Free time to rest and explore the island. A true tropical paradise, the island of Sainte-Marie is still untouched by mass tourism and remains authentic with its deserted beaches or small fishing villages with a traditional and centuries-old way of life. The few vehicles reinforce the timeless feel of this “end of the world.” The numerous trails and tracks and the size of the island make it easy to explore on foot or by bicycle. There is no shortage of places of interest: Île aux Nattes, the pirates’ cemetery, the Ampanihy forest, Île aux Forbans, the annual migration of humpback whales, popular festivals, and more. Underwater enthusiasts can also enjoy beautiful dives near the coral reefs.
